What's New for 2010-11

Lodge
After many debates on the “Looks” of Crotched's lodge, the verdict has come in … Comments from our customers: “all in one building … easy to get around … huge rental shop with direct access to the beginner slopes … inside ticket booths to stay warm … clean and spacious cafeteria with plenty of room and tables to sit down … lots of cubby holes for storage in the entrance lobby... Love the addition of a new fireplace.
For the 2010/11 season we are continuing our capital improvements based on the desires of you, our guests...

  • After the feedback we received from last year’s rubber floor in our foyer area, we will continue the installation of nearly 5,000 sq feet of rubber flooring into our rental shop and ski patrol room. That’s nearly 10,000 square feet of open, easy-to-get around inside space.

  • In order to make it even easier for you to get out on the slopes, Crotched will be installing a new Learning Center and Information Desk in the Foyer.

  • The ATC building will get fresh paint, a deck wind screen, and outside heating to make the new deck from last season even more enjoyable.

  • Crotched's rental shop is now the proud owner of a new Montana tuning machine. This will allow us to provide much needed tuning and equipment repairs for pre-season and in-season for the Monadnock region.

The most exciting updates will be to our Main Lodge seating area. The whole upstairs of the lodge will be getting a face lift to complement the addition of the fireplace installed last season...

  • Onset bar will see an expansion with more seating and a better view for entertainment.

  • Along with the seating area, the Cafeteria will also have a fresh new look and organization.

  • Crotched will be offering more menu options in the cafeteria, many of these will be options for the health conscious.

Snowmaking

100% FAN Snowmaking Technology allows CM to create the driest snow possible in the shortest amount of time with the most energy efficient system in the North East. Not only was Crotched Mountain the first resort to be 100% open in the past  6 out of 7 seasons, but the snow produced from this system was dry, resilient and easily groomed.  Withstanding weather conditions and skier traffic throughout the season, Crotched's machine snow is the next best thing to the two foot powder dump and is the closest thing to heaven.

  • For the 2010/11 season more effective Fan Gun placement and tweaking of the system is on the agenda to increase output and overall efficiency.

Grooming

For the 10/11 season, Another Pisten Bully has been added to the fleet of the two brand new, identical Kaessbohrer Pisten Bully 400 Park grooming machines. What’s in it you may ask? Well, this machine is “terrain park capable” meaning we will be able to build faster. One of the machines is equipped with a newly developed hydraulic flap system, which is designed for “seamless” passes (no or less ridges). This also gives us the ability to go closer to the trails edges.

Crotched Mountain skiing conditions are the closest thing to heaven, remember though to show up early, the first two hours on any ski trail are usually the best.

Trails and Terrain Parks

We have great trails, glades and parks and we are working hard on making them more enjoyable for the 2010/11 season

  • Significant trail work on Moonwalk, Comet Drop, Final Frontier and Launch Pad will increase flow on the hill.
  • Continued glade work will make the variety at Crotched even more enjoyable.
  • The terrain parks will continue get many new features stay tuned this summer for some sneak peaks of what we have planned for the parks this season.
  • And last, look for even more secret stashes of natural features in our glade areas.
